Vintage Fender Jazz Basses
In 1960, The Fender Jazz Bass was introduced it featured an offset waist and a narrower neck as well as 2 pickups.
According to Don Randall of Fender, the decision to create the Jazz bass came more from a marketing motivation to fill out the line of basses with an upscale top of the line model rather than a purely artistic calling. Saying it turned out well would be quite an understatement.
Initially, the Jazz Bass sported stacked concentric volume knobs for the 2 pickups and a master tone knob, this was changed in late 1961 to the familiar 3 knob configuration.
