How do I set the intonation on a Dean ML ?
Okay so I have a Dean ML79 of the Dimebag from Hell variety. It has a floyd rose which reads "licensed under Floyd Rose Patents". Its intonation seems to become out of wack every few months and I can no longer afford to take it to the shop every time it needs to be fixed. This is my main gigging guitar and my favorite, so if anyone could just tell me the step by step process I promise I'll name my first child after them.
Intonation can be set on guitars that have adjustment screws. It's done by either lengthening or shortening the string between the nut and the bridge. First get a good tuner, chromatic is advisable. Strike the string and set the tuner to zero. Next, hold down the same string at the 12th
fret and strike the same string again. If the tuner registers above or below the zero the string must be either lengthened or shortened.Floyd Rose tremolos are usually easy to adjust because they have a philips screw or a thumb screw.Use the same pressure on your finger at the 12th fret, just like you are when you're playing.Too much pressure or too little will give you a false reading.
