Mexican Fender Precision Bass
Some contend that for a beginner with limited funds, a Mexican Fender Precision bass is a good choice. I would add the caveat that you should try these basses with an experienced bassist who can help you choose one that’s right for you. Other bass players are of the opinion that with limited funds, you should get a high quality American bass from the get go as you may not be buying another anytime soon. Also a good fitting bass can have a strong influence on the early initial experience and impressions of a beginner.
The Mexican Precision basses below may be some of the “hidden gems” that were made with just the right combination of fit, finnish and materials when the planets lined up perfectly. Also note that an inexpensive “alright” Mexican bass can often be improved when taken to an experienced luthier.
