Japanese Fender Jazz Bass
While the pre-CBS Fender basses of the 1950's and 1960's are held in the highest regard by vintage bass collectors and musicians alike, the pre-1990 Japanese Fender Jazz basses are also well respected and highly sought after. (We must note that the current consensus is Fender has made giant steps and has re-captured it's glory with the classic instruments and re-issues it is creating now in the new millenium.)

In looking at many Japanese fender basses over time, one might notice that some say "Made In Japan" while others are marked with "Crafted In Japan". This distinction arose from a contractual negotiation with FujiGen Gakki. All instruments made by FujiGen Gakki are marked "Made in Japan" while Fender instruments made by any other company proudly bear "Crafted in Japan". Since 2007, models other than FujiGen Gakki now bear the "Made in Japan" words.
